Ordering Prescriptions
Repeat Prescriptions
If you need to order a repeat prescription then you will need to give us your request 48 hours before you need your medication. In most cases you a list of your repeat medication attached to the Prescription. This shows the drugs that your doctor has authorised on repeat.
To request a repeat prescription you can use one of the following services:
- Tick the item(s) you require and post in the Prescription Box situated in the surgery or send it to us via Royal Mail
- Email your request to: sms-bedlington@nhs.net Email us your name, address, Date of Birth and contact telephone number along with the details of the drugs you require.
- Order Online (you must be registered for online services)
Please try to avoid telephoning for a repeat prescription - due to the volume of calls we are finding that repeat prescription requests are making it difficult for other patients needing an appointment to get through on the telephone, if you do need to telephone for a repeat prescription then please telephone after 2pm.

Collecting Your Prescription
In all cases please allow 48 hours (2 working days) before collection of your prescription. You can collect your prescription:
- From the surgery in person
- From a chemist of your choice - please inform us if you require this service and you will need to allow 3 working days.
- We can also send your prescription to your home address however you will need to provide us with a stamp or a stamped addressed envelope.
Reviewing Your Drugs
Every few months the doctor may ask you to make an appointment to review your prescription. This is to ensure that the medication you have have been prescribed are still appropriate for you and to ensure that any tests you need are carried out such as blood pressure and blood tests. It is important that you attend these reviews otherwise we may not be able to continue to prescribe your medication.
When Medicines Cause Problems
If you experience any of the following problems, don't delay - talk to your doctor or pharmacist straight away:
- If you have taken too much of any medicine
- If you have an allergic reaction to a new medicine (such as wheezing, rash, swelling or fainting)
- If you notice a serious side affect or unusual symptoms
- If you notice your health is getting worse.
