How To Book An Appointment
The practice aims to be able to offer a routine appointment within 2 working days. We offer appointments in the morning and afternoon.

Your pharmacy can advise you on minor illness without the need of an appointment. Please speak to a pharmacist first.
Pharmacy & Self-Care
Pharmacists are qualified healthcare professionals who can offer clinical advice, over the counter medicines and their use, to effectively and safely manage a range of minor health concerns. They can also help you to decide whether you'll need to see a doctor. You don't need an appointment and you won't even be asked to make a purchase. Every pharmacy also has a private consultation area for you to talk about your symptoms in private if you prefer.

The Practice allows patients to book appointments to discuss routine problems up to 2 weeks in advance.

We encourage patients to set up an NHS Account to enable booking Nurse routine appointments using the internet. This is easier for you – allowing you to book any time of day rather than having to call during our opening hours and waiting to get through on busy telephone lines. Furthermore you can see all the available Nurse appointments on screen at once to enable you to identify the most convenient time for you. It also helps keep our telephone lines free for people to call through for emergency on the day appointments and our Doctors to call patients when they need to.

Back, Shoulder, Knee, Hip, Neck and other Joint Problem, aches and pains or persistent pain
If you are experiencing musculoskeletal aches and pains or persistent pain, the Northumberland Joint Musculoskeletal and Pain Service (JMAPS) can help you manage your condition.
Specialist staff including musculoskeletal physiotherapists, clinical psychologists, specialist nurses and rehabilitation therapists can assess, advise and support you to manage your condition with the aim of improving your health and wellbeing. You can self refer please contact the service here.
Emergency Care
Please keep 999 and the Emergency Department at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital for serious or life-threatening illness or injuries only.
If your health need is not an emergency, you will be referred to a different service on arrival.
NHS 111
If you have an urgent need which is not life-threatening.
NHS 111 health advisors are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to help you get the right medical attention for your needs.
Urgent Care Centres
If you need urgent care for a less serious condition.
Urgent Care Centres are available at Hexham and Wansbeck general hospitals. Walk-in access is available between 8am and 10pm, and appointments can be offered via NHS 111 if assessment of your symptoms suggests this is the best option for you.
These services treat conditions such as:
- Minor head, ear or eye problems
- Broken nose or nose bleed
- Sprains, strains, cuts and bites
- Children’s minor injuries and ailments (for children, and particularly babies, we advise parents to call ahead using the free NHS 111 service)
- Minor fractures or broken bones
- Abscesses and wound infections
Urgent care is for minor injuries or illnesses which need medical attention the same day, but are not serious enough for the Emergency Department.

If you require an urgent or same day appointment please fill in the online request form with information regarding your urgent medical problem. This will be triaged by the GP.

You will need to be available to come to the surgery the same day and possibly at short notice for examination if required.
If the Emergency Team feel your issue is not medically urgent your appointment may be re-booked for a later date. In some cases, your problem may be dealt with more appropriately via another service.
